久しぶりに、学校に子どもたちの元気な声が戻りました。

今朝の、突然の豪雨に加えて道路の混雑、さらに荷物の多さもあって、学校に着いた時には少し疲れた表情の子どもたちも、担任の先生や友達に出会うと笑顔で話したり、早速、体育館で思いきり遊んだりするなど、初日から“パワー全開”の子どもたちでした。

夏休み中の静けさは、学校らしくありません(笑)。

「学校はやはりこうでないと！」と思いました。

 

今日から2学期です。

始業式では校長先生から、「2学期は『きめる』『きめ直す』ことを進んで行って欲しい」という話がありました。『きめる』という行為は、主体的な行為です。主体的に『きめる』。でも、自分がきめたことに自信がもてず、さらに考えたり友達との交流を通したりしながら、よりよい考えに『きめ直す』。そこに成長があります。2学期も様々な行事や仲間との交流を通して、大きく成長していって欲しいと思います。

 

9月の生活目標は、「自分から進んであいさつをしよう」です。生徒指導担当からは、「挨拶は単なる儀式ではなく、相手に心を開いて近づくこと。「あなたと話したり一緒に活動したりしたいと思っています」というサインである」という話がありました。明日から、先生vs友達、友達vs友達の〝挨拶競争〟が始まりそうです(笑)。

 

始業式ではこの他に、習字クラブの表彰も行いました。第71回全日本学生書道展に出品し、「連盟準大賞」や「推薦」など、素晴らしい賞を受賞しました。また、学校にも賞状をいただきました。

 

始業式後は学級活動を行い、夏休みの宿題を集めたり夏休みの過ごし方を振り返ったりしました。

42日間の夏休みも今日が最終日……。

小学校では昨日と今日の時間を使って、全職員で子どもたちを迎える準備に取り組みました。

職員室前の畑は草がぐんぐん伸び、この夏休み期間の長さを感じる〝景色〟になってしまいました……。早速、職員で力を合わせて草を取り、子どもたちが虫取りをしたり観察したりできるようにしました。

午後には各教室の整頓も行い、子どもたちを迎える準備は〝万端〟となりました。

明日は夏休みの宿題と2学期の希望･期待の気持ちを持って、元気いっぱい登校してください。久しぶりに見る皆さんの笑顔を楽しみにしています。

 

 

Today was our final day of English Camp. We were excited and a little sad at the same time. First, we had a fun activity time with all the groups together playing some English games like “Duck, Duck, Goose” and “Fruit Basket.” Some games we had played before, but some were brand new! Next we continued working on our presentations for the photo scavenger hunt. Each person in each group tried to think of something great to say about our favorite spots in school. Then all the groups went to Friendly Hall to present their pictures to the other groups. We were a little nervous about presenting, but each group did an amazing job. Next was lunchtime. After lunch, we participated in a Treasure Hunt activity where we had to find different shapes around the school. Following that was another recreation game time where we played games for the last time with our English teachers. Last, we had our closing ceremony. The winners of photo contest presentations were announced, and each English teacher gave a comment about their group and how much fun it was these last three days. We each got a certificate showing that we finished three days together, and then we had to say goodbye to our teachers. It was a super three days of using English! We had so much fun!

We have finished our second day at In-School English camp. First, since we have already gotten to know our English teachers, we took them on a tour of our school. We showed them many classrooms and areas we use every day. It was challenging and fun to use only English to explain different things about our school. Next, we started practicing phrases and making preparations for our role playing activity scheduled in the afternoon. Our teachers taught us many ways to carry and conversation in places like a restaurant, a doctor’s office, and more. Then it was time for lunch. After lunch, we jumped into the role playing activity we had been preparing for. We had fun going to the different classrooms and pretending to be sick at the doctor’s office, ordering food at a restaurant, buying things at a store, and much more. After that, we started making preparations for the next day’s photo contest presentation. We went around the school finding our favorite locations and taking a picture with our teacher there. Then we practiced what we will say during the next day’s presentation. That marks the end of day two at In-School English camp. We had fun today, and we hope to continue having fun on our last day tomorrow!
